Kabetogama has always had a special place in our families hearts & memories. Al’s parents started the tradition of making family memories with their cabin on Sugarbush. They welcomed whoever wanted to come and stay each year to share everything they knew Kab had to offer. It’s the place Al learned to water ski, fish, boat and even has a couple deer from hunting trips as he got older. Kab was the choice for Al and Nancy’s honeymoon in late September and then became the favorite vacation spot for making their own family memories. Some of the favorite memories come from the most memorable moments, such as going out and catching walleye, big fish dinners, bonfires on the beach, going out fishing thinking we could beat the rain but instead trying to hide under a tree on a shoreline to “protect” us, Brooke falling on her face multiple times skiing but determined she wouldn’t let her little brother Brandon beat her and be the only one to learn that day, having to bring every new person to tour the Rock Gardens, see Kettle Falls and just show them the beauty all around them. Each year our family would have to stop for ice cream at Bait n’ Bite and get the annual picture on the “Big Fish”. The memories continued as we got older. Without having Sugarbush the family jumped at an opportunity to lease “the A frame” cabin, Al’s sister and parents have been able to be a part of this and share memories here as well. Kabetogama was Tanner & Brookes first vacation together and of course they had to stop for the memorable picture on that “Big Fish”. It's the place Tanner brought friends and family for his bachelor weekend and the first place Tanner & Brooke brought their oldest boy, Porter, their second son Parker. It truly has been “the vacation spot” we share continuously and are always sad to leave. Owning a resort and being able to share every piece of Kabetogama with others has always been Al’s dream. He’s talked about it since his kids were little and passed it onto them & their families.
What started as an idea to buy a family cabin and rent it out weeks we would not be using it turned into going “all in” and purchasing Sandy Point Lodge & Resort in May of 2022.
Sandy Point gives us the opportunity to help you make lifelong memories, experience fishing, ice fishing, snowmobiling and Voyageurs National Park.
It’s a place we want families to come to year after year like we have and fall in love with the little piece of paradise.
