The Sandy Point Life
Gordon and Jennifer Gelo along with their family have owned Sandy Point Lodge for 19 years. Gordon an Iowa native and former large animal veterinarian fell in love with Lake Kabetogama after a fishing trip led him to the Minnesota-Canadian border. Jennifer, a longtime outdoor enthusiast has been a longtime supporter of Voyageurs National Park, Minnesota’s only National Park for which Lake Kabetogama is a part of.
Their nine children grew up at the resort, and can be found visiting and helping during the summer and winter months. While one of their children will be at the resort working this summer, you will also be greeted upon arrival by their other child, Abby, an 11-year-old golden retriever.
Sandy Point features a restaurant and bar with great food and the best fries on the lake! Stop in for a cocktail on a hot summer day, or for a warm-up during the cold winter months. Hungry? Come fill up in our restaurant with our Sandy Point Salad, great burgers, and popular walleye dinner.
Jennifer and Gordon provide guests with a great amount of knowledge on the lake, hiking trails, kayaking routes, and are always willing to give fishing hints. From quick weekend getaways to month long expeditions Sandy Point provides relaxation, great food and great company throughout your trip.
From our family to your family, we welcome you to be a part of our Sandy Point family.
